Welcome to /recruiting
This community exists for people who actually work on hiring systems, teams, and decisions, not just talk about them.
Recruiting is strange work. It mixes psychology, economics, software, incentives, and human judgment, often under time pressure and incomplete information. Most public discourse flattens that complexity into slogans. This space is for resisting that flattening.
What belongs here:
Thoughtful takes on how hiring really works
Experiments, failures, and lessons from the field
Clear arguments backed by evidence or lived experience
Good questions that don’t have obvious answers
What doesn’t:
Vendor spam
Motivational fluff
LinkedIn-style performance
Advice that ignores incentives, scale, or tradeoffs
If you’re posting, aim to think out loud in public. Share what you’re unsure about. Change your mind visibly. Disagree like an adult.
To start things off, here’s a prompt:
What’s one hiring belief you held strongly five years ago that you no longer believe, and why?
Signal over noise. Let’s build this slowly and correctly.
