When “self-care” isn’t cutting it…
It’s a little embarrassing to admit, but we were once “hustling so hard” that our idea of healthy was checking our blood pressure… while driving. We don’t do that anymore (the hustling or checking our blood pressure in the car). But if that cringe-inducing anecdote resonates with you, we’ve got notes:
• Audit Your "Good" Habits: Just because an activity is "healthy" or growth-oriented on paper does not mean it is right for your nervous system today. If you feel heavy or depleted afterward, give yourself permission to stop.
• The "Everything" Table: Your diet, your exercise, and your media consumption should all be evaluated by a single metric: Does this leave me feeling freer and more authentic, or more tired, anxious, and/or depleted?
• Drop the Unchangeable: Carrying the weight of global issues you cannot influence while navigating personal trauma is an insurmountable burden. Focusing your energy where you have agency is a strategic move for your well-being.
• Prioritize the "Green" Activities: Identify the habits that automatically lower your internal temperature and protect that time fiercely.
