GitHub is no longer independent at Microsoft after CEO resignation
Microsoft integrates GitHub into its AI engineering team, following the resignation of GitHub's CEO, marking a significant shift in GitHub's independence.
Microsoft is moving GitHub into its CoreAI team, following the resignation of GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke today. GitHub has operated as a separate company ever since Microsoft acquired it in 2018 for $7.5 billion, but Dohmke’s departure is part of a big shakeup to the way GitHub operates. Microsoft isn’t replacing Dohmke’s CEO position, and GitHub will now be fully part of Microsoft instead of being run as a separate entity.
