Microsoft is moving antivirus providers out of the Windows kernel
Microsoft is collaborating with security vendors to move antivirus apps out of the Windows kernel, aiming to prevent future system crashes. A private preview is set for July, with input from CrowdStrike, Bitdefender, and others.
This is in response to the Cloudstrike issue that took down tons of systems a year ago. It's a good idea and a long time coming.
