Man sues Tennessee county after he was jailed over meme related to Charlie Kirk killing

A former Tennessee law enforcement officer, Larry Bushart, has filed a lawsuit against Perry County and its sheriff, alleging that his First and Fourth Amendment rights were violated when he was arrested and jailed for 37 days over a Facebook meme related to the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Bushart claims the meme, which referenced a past shooting at a different high school, was misinterpreted as a threat to the local high school. The lawsuit also states that Bushart lost his post-retirement job due to his incarceration, and he is seeking a jury trial and damages.
