Do you listen to any podcasts where the host has passed away?
The average age of my most listened to podcasters is 64. Being in my early 40s, some of these guys are statistically likely to go in the next 15-20 years.
But then I realized there is one podcaster I listen to who is currently dead. That's Gilbert Gottfried of Gilbert's Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast. I don't know if it's his wife or his co-host doing it, but his channel regularly releases classic episodes from throughout his back catalog.
I don't necessarily listen to podcasts to stay current, and Gilbert was never current as evidenced by his signature impressions of Bela Lugosi and Georgie Jessel, but I do wonder if people would stop listening to a podcast because the host passed away.
Would it be too sad to keep listening? Would it be not current enough, as the host would not be able to comment on the topics of the day? Or do you keep listening as long as the estate is releasing re-runs?
