escape.com -- Providing Online Services Since 1987 (Until 2002)

Escape.com was an online service started in 1987. It's origins started a year earlier as a BBS running on a Commadore 64 and 1200-baud modem. In 1994 it became an ISP and expanded quickly into the Millennium. Escape was one of the first ISPs, predating most commercial providers. It looks to have quietly shutdown in about the year 2002 with no indication it was acquired by another company like what happened with many small ISPs of the era. Many went under as broadband access became more available. This site serves as a time capsule. An online presence of a dead company.
