There's Evidence Humans Didn't Actually See Blue Until Modern Times
Evidence suggests humans didn't perceive the color blue until modern times, as ancient texts lacked the word for it. Studies with the Himba tribe, who lack a word for blue, showed they struggled to distinguish it from green.
For most of history, humans were apparently colorblind to blue—our oceans were “wine-dark” and our skies, just part of the background. Turns out, if you don’t have a word for blue, you might as well be living in a world without it—proof that language doesn’t just color our thoughts, it literally colors our world!
