Pink Floyd, Young Lust - A Classical Musician’s In-Depth Analysis
Virgin Rock breaks down the fact that the Young Lust isn’t actually sexual, it’s a lust for revenge on the mother who kept the world away from him.
Moreover, Empty Spaces is about exploring everything his mother kept him away from, then the phone call where he finds out his wife is cheating on him…to the considerably less than ideal groupie who actually came over and how he dealt with it when all of his motherly limitations come out in a big stream, with “get between the sheets” in amongst them.
Didn’t even get to the fact that the four notes are an inversion of the notes in the phrase “we don’t need no education.”
The album has so many more levels I’m discovering forty-five years after it took the world (and my high school) by storm.
