So I’ve started to print articles and essays I want to actually digest and absorb into my DNA.
And here’s why I (and the top secret garden gnome) think you should too. Words blur together with everything else on the screen. One minute it’s a picture of a Labubu, next a video of something “newsworthy,” and a second later it could be the top ten tips your therapist thinks are trash (and what they recommend instead) with a FREE ACTIONABLE PDF if you signup for their newsletter. [$49 value!] The problem is nothing has any damn weight. There is no end to this waterfall. The black hole becomes you. And that’s why for the “stuff that matters,” printing it gives it the respect it deserves. It takes up space. It isn’t always with you. It becomes unwieldy if you have too much. These aren’t bad things. It takes up space— So you must dedicate space to it. It isn’t always with you— So you must decide to bring it with you. It becomes unwieldy if you have too much— So you must declutter before you’re subsumed. You’ve awarded ideas, thoughts and beliefs actual weight. By providing them a shape and form, you’ve given them value. Congrats, you’re the new parent of a little seed of action! *** So with the next interesting article you come across, make it a point to jump right into it and then GTFO Close the tab. Close the window. And do something that your body needs from you. Because it’s you versus the infinite jest. And I’m rooting for you. P.S. The gnome is too.
