Toxic metals and carcinogens found in Australian tattoo inks: new study
A new study by UNSW Sydney found that tattoo inks sold in Australia contain toxic metals and carcinogenic compounds at levels that would be illegal in the European Union. The study analyzed the chemical composition of 15 black and colored tattoo inks from major international brands and found that all failed current EU safety regulations. Australia lacks a binding national regulatory framework for tattoo inks and relies on voluntary compliance and occasional government studies.
