Perennial rye grass

lawn help please for my client! I think I need a selective herbicide right? to try kill some perennial rye grass that has started to grow in the ground cover (leptinella platts) I'm not sure how it will affect the ground cover and just wanted to try a small sample area. They have been pulling it out by hand but the grass is relentless.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated
