The Underrated Spider Plant
Spider plants are one of those houseplants that want to be shared!
They’re incredibly easy to care for — they tolerate missed waterings, adapt to a range of light (bright indirect is best, but they’re forgiving), and they’re non-toxic to pets. They’re also known for helping freshen indoor air, which is a nice bonus for something that asks for so little.
One of the best things about spider plants is how effortlessly they propagate. Once mature, they send out long stems with little “babies” already formed. You can snip one off and pop it in water — roots usually show up within a week or two — or plant it directly into soil with a pretty high success rate. You don’t need fancy tools or any real plant experience.
Because they produce so many offspring, spider plants are perfect for sharing. One healthy plant can create dozens of new plants over time, making them ideal for plant swaps, gifts to friends, classrooms, offices, or just spreading a little green joy. They’re resilient, generous, and a great reminder that some of the best houseplants are the ones that keep giving. 🌱
