Shifts, it feels like I'm wasting time, any suggestions?

We run multiple shifts, availability changes, and last minute absences. I need a simple tool to plan workloads, assign people fairly, and keep everything clear for the team.

What are you using for shift scheduling in hospitality? Any tools, templates or workflows you would actually recommend? I'm proficient with excel, but there has to be something better... (ideally not crazy expensive)?
