UAE ordered to pay £260,000 to trafficking victim exploited by diplomat in London

In a landmark ruling, the High Court ordered the United Arab Emirates to pay £260,000 to a Filipino woman who was trafficked and exploited by a diplomat in London. The woman was subjected to modern slavery, working over 17 hours a day, denied basic rights, and suffered from verbal abuse and threats. This marks the first time a foreign state has been held liable for domestic servitude by its envoy on UK soil.
