Fire breaks out in Seoul’s last-remaining shanty town
A fire in Guryong village, one of Seoul's last remaining shanty towns, burned makeshift houses and forced dozens of residents to flee on Friday. The blaze, which broke out in the morning, was largely under control after 6 1/2 hours, with no immediate casualties reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the village, which has a history of fires, is located near some of Seoul’s most expensive neighborhoods, highlighting South Korea’s income inequalities.
