2025 in retrospect & happy new year 2026! – Gentoo Linux

Gentoo Linux has had a productive year in 2025, with new developers joining, more binary packages, and various improvements across the distribution. They've migrated their repository mirrors and pull request contributions to Codeberg, finalized EAPI 9, and added support for RISC-V bootable QCOW2 disk images. Gentoo has also introduced an alternatives mechanism for GPG providers, and improved the packaging of NGINX.
