Marathon Collector's Edition doesn't come with the game

I am rooting for Marathon to find its audience. I am not particularly interested in it myself but I always like to see healthy competition in the gaming industry.

However, a footnote in the Marathon pre-order trailer caught my eye — the Collector's Edition of the game doesn't actually come with the game. IMO, this is a really silly thing to do.

What are your thoughts? Do you know of any other game that has done the same with their Collector's Edition?
