What happened to The Bear in Season 4?

I used to love this show. I could hardly stop myself from binging an entire season over a weekend. Season 2 gave me one of my most favorite episodes of TV from any series ever (Seven Fishes)! So imagine my disappointment when season 4 drops and each episode meanders dreadfully to and fro, tediously crawling a plot forward with very few interesting moments. Despite the vibe of self importance, I found it to be a total slog, and by the end I could barely finish the season. Very disappointed with the drop off of quality here. Am I alone on this or have others felt the same? It's sad when shows drop off like this honestly.
