One of my favorite communities has already been abandoned đ
Iâm really into tinkering with Android TV boxesâsideloading apps, tweaking performance settings, and geeking out over the entire ecosystem.
I came across what seemed like a dedicated AndroidTV Community on Digg and thought itâd be the perfect spot to follow for the latest shares, links, and conversations in that niche. But when I checked it out again recently, it looks totally ownerlessâno founder showing up anymore.
Does anyone know what went down with it? Did the original owner just lose interest, delete their account, step away after the public beta launch, or something else?
I believe abandoned communities on Diggâlike one without an active owner or any visible moderationâshould have a proper way for engaged members to request ownership. Ideally, this would prioritize people who are already actively participating in Digg, sharing content, and contributing to keep the space alive and thriving.
Right now, with the two-creation-slot limit designed specifically to discourage camping or neglecting communities, it feels like a missed opportunity not to have some kind of adoption process for truly dormant ones. Diggâs early announcements emphasize caring for communities rather than letting them sit unused, so allowing passionate users (especially active participants) to step in could align perfectly with that goalâpreventing good topics from fading away while rewarding real involvement.
Unfortunately, I canât step up to take it on myselfâmy two community creation slots are already maxed out. Besides, even if I somehow got a third slot, running another community would just be overwhelming for me.
In the end, I really hope another user whoâs active in the Android TV space will be able to request and take over this abandoned, ownerless community.
