Fake news are a threat for democracy
I would like to share this survey from Pew Research Center, it was published in April...but we hadn't got Digg at the time!
A global survey reveals widespread concern about fabricated news, with a median of 59% across 35 countries considering it a very big problem. Concerns are particularly high in sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America, while Singapore shows the least concern. Attitudes towards freedom of expression and satisfaction with democracy correlate with views on fabricated news, with those valuing these freedoms and dissatisfied with democracy more likely to see it as a significant issue.
