Can we ban politics outside of explicitly political communities?

Why are we talking about ICE in picture subreddits? Why are comments about Donald Trump the most upvoted in niche technology subreddits? It seems like AI could easily filter this and keep the communities on topic and ban those that try an abuse the system.
