Remote, Hybrid, or In-Office—What’s Your Setup?
I work for a company based in downtown Cincinnati. Before COVID, I was primarily working downtown full-time. After things reopened, we shifted to two days a week in the office. Eventually, our department pushed to become fully remote—and we were granted that flexibility.
Since then, the company as a whole has moved back toward an in-office model, now requiring most employees to be in the office four days a week with one remote day. Thankfully, my department was allowed to remain fully remote, and honestly, it’s been a game changer.
Our productivity hasn’t slipped at all—if anything, our metrics show an uptick. Job performance is stronger, and I’ve gained back time for myself. I’m no longer stuck in a cubicle, burning gas, putting wear and tear on my car, or losing hours each week commuting just to do the same job I can do effectively from home. I genuinely feel lucky, and I don’t take that for granted.
What’s your work environment like? And what’s your take on in-office versus remote work?
It felt like after COVID, employees had a bit more leverage, with many companies adopting at least a hybrid approach. Lately, though, it seems like a lot of organizations have reverted to a more traditional, in-office model—shifting that leverage back to employers. Ours made the change recently, and it feels like they waited to see what other companies would do before following suit.
I know the Cincinnati Digg community is still pretty new, but hopefully as more people join, we’ll see more conversations like this take off.
