"Awareness" by Anthony de Mello
I decided to pickup this book after the recommendation by Tim Ferris on one of the recent Random Shows (with Tim and Kevin Rose).
It cannot be overstated how powerful this short read is. To read this book is to truly step back and better understand what appears to be self-evident but is often overlooked.
One of my favorite quotes: "We differ from others--from criminals, for example--only in what we do or don't do, not in what we are."
The book is a reminder to "WAKE UP" -- an acceptance and deep understanding of self awareness that cuts through the ego and emphasizes the fool's errand of dwelling upon the past or worrying about the future. A firm understanding and acceptance of the present moment and its contents/control is increasingly fruitful for myself and likely many of you.
