Oklahoma Considers Bitcoin Pay Option For State Employees and vendors
Oklahoma introduced Senate Bill 2064 to allow state employees, vendors, and residents to voluntarily receive bitcoin payments. The bill establishes a legal framework for bitcoin as a medium of exchange without designating it as legal tender. If enacted, it would permit state employees to elect to receive salaries in bitcoin, and vendors to opt into bitcoin payments on a per-transaction basis. The bill also includes provisions to reduce regulatory friction for bitcoin-native businesses and requires the Oklahoma State Treasurer to select a digital asset firm to process bitcoin payments.
