r/Atheism was in the middle of Reddit

When Reddit first launched and was getting traction, r/atheism was on the front page, dead center, and daily was featured on the front page of reddit feed. Once reddit got popular r/atheism was hidden away. What are your theories as to why this happened? Who did Reddit hire at the corporate level who was so offended by that sub and went out of their way to remove it?
