NASA funds new tech for upcoming 'Super Hubble' to search for alien life: 'We intend to move with urgency'

NASA has selected seven companies to develop technologies for the Habitable Worlds Observatory, a powerful space telescope designed to search for signs of life on alien planets by analyzing the light passing through their atmospheres. The companies will tackle engineering challenges to create a telescope capable of maintaining stability within a width the size of a single atom and equipped with a coronagraph thousands of times more capable than any previously built. NASA aims to launch the observatory by the late 2030s or early 2040s, equipped with technologies that do not yet exist.
