Vancouver Councillors Call for Tougher Tenant Protections | The Tyee
Vancouver councillors have voted to explore new tenant protections following reports and complaints of unethical landlord practices. The motion, proposed by Green Party Coun. Pete Fry, calls for a new annual rental business licence for multi-unit landlords to ensure minimum standards of maintenance, accountability, and enforcement. The motion passed unanimously and asks city staff to report back on the feasibility of implementing such a licence, which already exists in New Westminster.
