First time watching 9-1-1. Is it getting better after season 4?

There were some gut-wrenching, emotional episodes in the first three seasons, but season 4 is just relentless.

It’s a successful show with 9 seasons. It has found its audience. But I don’t know if it’s still a show for me. I’ve been trying for months to get through season 4. Sometimes watching only half an episode and finishing it a week later.

Is this now the style for seasons 5 to 9, too? Should I stop torturing myself?
