What supplements should I take? My doctor just told me they're all trash and to stop listening to the internet
Just got back from a doctor's appointment and I'm honestly a bit upset/worried right now...
I mentioned I've been researching what are the best health supplements for some issues I've been dealing with, and he basically shut me down hard. Said he only believes in traditional medicine, that most supplements are unregulated garbage, and that I shouldn't come back to his office talking about stuff people recommend online.
His exact words were something like "even if they're natural, you could be making whatever you have worse." He seemed genuinely frustrated, like he's had this conversation too many times?
Part of me gets it and I'm sure he sees patients who've messed themselves up badly. But at the same time, aren't health supplements backed by actual research? Like berberine and citrus bergamot? My bloodwork literally showed I was deficient in some things and too high in others...
I've been trying to figure which dietary supplements might actually help, but now I don't know what to think. Is he being overly dismissive or is he right that I should just stick to whatever he prescribes?
Anyone else dealt with a doctor like this? Am I wasting my money and potentially hurting myself?
