Colleen Jones, champion curler and CBC reporter, dies at 65

Colleen Jones, a pioneering figure in both curling and Canadian broadcasting, has passed away at the age of 65 after a battle with cancer. As a curling champion, she won multiple world and Canadian titles, and made history as the first female sports anchor in Halifax when she joined CBC in 1986. Over her nearly 40-year career with CBC, she reported on 10 Olympic Games and was inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 2016. Jones's legacy extends beyond her sports achievements; she was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2022 for her contributions to women in sport and broadcasting.
