Pesticides May Drastically Shorten Fish Lifespans, Study Finds - Slashdot
File this one in um-duh-smarty-pants.
Research led by Jason Rohr, a biologist at the University of Notre Dame, found that even low levels of common agricultural pesticides can significantly shorten the lifespan of fish. The study, published in Science, revealed that fish exposed to pesticides showed accelerated signs of aging, including shortened telomeres and lipofuscin deposition. These effects were observed at concentrations below current US freshwater safety standards, indicating potential long-term impacts of pesticide exposure on aquatic life.
