The cartridge blow: Placebo or actual fix?

We all did it. Game doesn't work? Blow in the cartridge like you're performing CPR on your childhood.

Turns out Nintendo explicitly told us NOT to do this because moisture corrodes the pins. But it felt like it worked every single time.

What was your go-to cartridge revival technique? I had a friend who would lick the contacts. Yes, lick. He's fine now. Probably.
