ASCII characters are not pixels: a deep dive into ASCII rendering
I started programming in the 90s building AOL programs that spammed ASCII art into chat rooms (annoying, I know, I don’t put it in my resume), so this really hit home. I’ve never seen such a deep, technical breakdown of ASCII art treated as a real rendering problem with constraints, tradeoffs, and surprisingly elegant solutions. This took something nostalgic and showed how much depth was hiding underneath it the whole time.
