French Court orders VPNs to block Pirate Live Sports Sites

A French court has ordered popular VPN services, including CyberGhost, ExpressVPN, NordVPN, ProtonVPN, and Surfshark, to block access to several domains hosting pirated sports streams. This follows the classification of VPNs as 'technical intermediaries' under the French Sports Code. The court rejected arguments from the VPN providers, including the 'no-log' defense, and emphasized that blocking specific domains does not require storing user information. The order, which targets 13 domains and can be expanded, is set to remain active through the 2025/2026 football season.
