Microsoft gave FBI BitLocker keys, raising privacy fears | Windows Central

Microsoft has confirmed it will provide the FBI with BitLocker encryption keys if a legal order is requested, raising privacy concerns. Windows 11's default setting automatically backs up these keys to the cloud, which can be accessed by law enforcement. This practice contrasts with other tech companies like Apple, which have refused to provide such access. Microsoft receives around 20 such requests annually, but most cannot be fulfilled as the keys were not uploaded to their cloud. Users can check and delete their BitLocker keys stored on Microsoft's servers via the Microsoft Account website.
