Trump revokes Canada's invitation to join Board of Peace
U.S. President Donald Trump withdrew on Thursday an invitation for Canada to join his Board of Peace initiative aimed at resolving global conflicts.
U.S. President Donald Trump revoked Canada's invitation to join his Board of Peace initiative, following Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's speech at the World Economic Forum criticizing powerful nations' use of economic integration as weapons. Trump cited Carney's remarks in a Truth Social post withdrawing the invitation, which was initially meant to cement a Gaza ceasefire. The board, endorsed by a United Nations Security Council resolution, includes Argentina, Bahrain, Morocco, Pakistan, and Turkey as permanent members, with each required to fund the board with a payment of $1 billion.
