A £330,000 appeal launched to buy the land surrounding the Cerne Abbas Giant

The National Trust has initiated a fundraiser to acquire 340 acres of land surrounding the Cerne Giant, a 55-meter chalk figure in Dorset, aiming to facilitate further scientific studies, enhance conservation efforts, and improve public access. The purchase, expected to cost £2.5 million, will allow for landscape-scale archaeological research, protect rare species like the Duke of Burgundy butterfly, and create new opportunities for exploration and play. The initiative has garnered support from notable figures such as Stephen Fry and Sean Fletcher.
