Former congressional employee charged with swiping nearly 250 government cellphones
A former congressional employee, Christopher Southerland, has been charged with stealing approximately 240 government cellphones from the House of Representatives. Southerland, who worked as a system administrator for the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, allegedly ordered the phones and sold them for over $150,000. The scheme was uncovered when one of the stolen phones was sold on eBay and the purchaser contacted the House Technology Service Desk.
