Some good news from the US military…
The U.S. military will stop using pigs and goats for trauma training in the battlefield, thanks to advanced simulation technology. This change, part of the annual defense bill, was championed by Rep. Vern Buchanan, who emphasized reducing unnecessary suffering in military practices. While other animal-based training methods will continue, animal rights groups celebrate this shift towards human-relevant simulation technology.
The U.S. military will stop its practice of shooting pigs and goats to help prepare medics for treating wounded troops in a combat zone, ending an exercise made obsolete by simulators that mimic battlefield injuries.
