Dozens to Hundreds Dead in Iran After Government Opens Fire on Protests
Anti-government protests in Iran have led to at least 78 reported deaths and over 2,600 arrests, according to a US-based human rights group. The demonstrations, sparked by economic grievances, have spread to over 180 cities across Iran. Protesters have described large crowds, hope, and brutal violence, with hospitals overwhelmed and chaotic. An ongoing internet blackout has been imposed by Iranian officials, but has not quelled the protests. US President Donald Trump has expressed solidarity with the Iranian people, while Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has blamed the US for inciting the protests.
Iran is apparently in turmoil.
