Google is officially zero-click engine now.. As 60% of searches are ending on the SERP
Saw some fresh data today that's honestly a bit depressing for anyone running a blog or a niche site. Apparently, as of this week, 60% of all Google searches are now officially zero-click.
Basically, between the AI Overviews and the big knowledge panels, people are just getting their answers and leaving without ever touching our sites. If you aren't optimizing for "Answer Engine Optimization" (AEO) to get into those AI summary boxes, your organic traffic is basically a ticking time bomb at this point.
I'm curious, has anyone actually seen a "positive" side to this? Is anyone actually getting traffic from the citations inside the AI box, or are we all just getting scraped for free?
