Mazda's Rotary Powered MX-30 Axed After Less Than 2 Years In Europe

Mazda canceled the rotary engine range extender version of the MX-30 electric vehicle in Europe after two years due to low sales and production priorities. Despite having a charming interior and solid handling, the MX-30 only achieved 100 miles of EPA range and featured unusual rear-hinged doors, which hurt its appeal in the US. Mazda is now developing a new EV on a dedicated electric platform, set to arrive by 2027, with an emphasis on driving experience. The company is also working on plug-in hybrids, such as the Vision X Coupe concept, which boasts impressive specs including 503 horsepower and nearly 500 miles of combined range.
