'British FBI' to take over terror and fraud probes in reforms to police - BBC News
A new National Police Service is being created in England and Wales as part of police reforms to take over counter-terror, fraud, and criminal gang investigations. The Home Secretary, Shabana Mahmood, said the new body, dubbed a 'British FBI', will bring together existing agencies and deploy 'world class talent and state of the art technology'. The reforms also include a significant reduction in the number of police forces, a licensing scheme for all officers, and the ability for the NPS to operate across the UK.
