Nathan’s Famous Sold to Smithfield Foods
Nathan's Famous, the iconic Coney Island hot dog brand founded in 1916, has been sold to Smithfield Foods for $450 million. Smithfield, which has been producing and selling Nathan's products since 2014, will acquire all outstanding shares for $102 each. The deal includes the continuation of Nathan's famous annual hot dog-eating contest, a tradition that began in the early 20th century.
Nathan’s Famous Hotdogs has been sold to Smithfield Foods for $450 million. Smithfield Foods was manufacturing and selling their hotdogs under license in the U.S., Canada and Sam’s Clubs since 2014.
