Dear fellow January 2026 users, please stop being so obsessed about the other site
I first heard about the other site in comp.lang.lisp. This was a community on the Usenet before it was primarily known/used for warez. There I learned about Digg and nearly 2 decades later about Lemmy. On Lemmy, I heard about PieFed.
On Bluesky I heard about Digg reborn.
Before the Usenet, I was a user on multiple BBSs. Wrote one myself and one with friends.
The only thing special about the other site is its size and success. But this doesn't mean you need to talk about it so much. Why compare Digg with it? Why call features you want to see on Digg missing features, just because you know them from the other site?
You don't need to be exclusive about everything. You can use Bluesky and Mastodon, PieFed and Digg. Some may even use Twitter and the other site. Just let them be.
