TLDR

Starting January 7, 2026, International Experience Canada (IEC) Working Holiday and Young Professionals are no longer eligible for Alberta Health Care coverage. Co-Op Work Permit Holders must provide proof of full-time study at an Alberta educational institution. Existing coverage will remain in effect until the work permit expires or the Alberta Health Care card expires. IEC Work Permit Holders must have private health insurance.
