Unemployment rate drops to 4.1 per cent ahead of RBA's next rates meeting - ABC News
Supposedly the unemployment rate is 4.1%. I don't know about anyone else but I personally don't really believe the numbers that much anymore, whether it's an increase in gig work (i.e. working 1 hour a week counts as employed) or an increase in discouraged workers (i.e. people who are able to work but aren't looking) affecting the numbers I'm not sure but I see plenty of stories online about people not being able to find work for months.
What do you guys think about the rate?
Australia's unemployment rate dropped to 4.1 per cent in December, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. The seasonally adjusted figures show a stronger jobs market than expected, with a rise in younger people entering the workforce. The improved employment figures have led to higher expectations of an interest rate hike at the Reserve Bank of Australia's next meeting on February 3.
