What maker/luthier do you think is most innovative?
I've noticed that plenty in the acoustic world seem to revere the established brands (MGT, or Martin/Gibson/Taylor). I won't judge folks for loving old guitar models and materials. They're great. But what guitar makers do you find are pushing the envelope of what acoustic guitars are capable of? I came across Jakob Frank ( @cannaguitars on Instagram ), from Germany, who makes some of the most beautiful and unique acoustic instruments today. He builds from both traditional woods (using totally unique forming techniques to create body shapes that are really interesting) and something called Hempstone, a material made from hemp fibers and water. But his instruments are just gorgeous, with a unique and distinctive sound. I really love his headstock design as well.
So, who are YOUR favorite builders / luthiers who are really pushing the envelope today? Let's talk about 'em. Post some links!
