Metro staff recommend a heavy rail subway for the Sepulveda Transit Corridor project, proposing a modified version of Alternative 5 with a fully-underground line beneath Van Nuys Boulevard. The Board of Directors will vote in January to select this locally preferred alternative, which aims to improve transit in the congested corridor parallel to the 405 Freeway. Final certification of the Torrance Metro rail extension is also expected this month.
